Delivery — kerbside, on a pallet

Standard delivery is free to mainland UK addresses with no minimum spend and arrives within 3–5 working days. Your paving comes palletised on an 18-tonne tail-lift lorry, delivered kerbside: the driver lowers the pallet and moves it with a pump truck to the nearest safe hard-standing — your driveway or the kerb — but won't carry stone through the property, so please have help on hand. A handful of remote Highland and island postcodes may carry a surcharge, always shown at checkout before you pay.

Choose your delivery date

Free standard delivery gives a 3–5 working-day window. If you need a set day, pick nominated-day delivery (£39.00) for a chosen weekday, or Saturday delivery (£69.00) at checkout — the date picker shows the real available dates for your postcode. Full details on the delivery & guarantee page.

Breakage guarantee — 48-hour photo claim

Every pallet is covered. If anything arrives cracked, chipped or broken, take clear photos of the damaged slabs as delivered and send them with your order number within 48 hours of delivery. We send free replacements or credit the affected pieces — nothing to send back, no quibbling over a broken corner. See the breakage guarantee for the claim steps.

Returns basics

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you can cancel most online orders within 14 days of delivery and return the goods within a further 14 days for a refund. Goods must be unused and in a re-saleable condition, and you're responsible for return carriage of heavy goods unless they're faulty. Faulty or not-as-described goods are covered separately under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — the full policy is in our terms & conditions.

About this product

Product details

Pave Direct’s Rustic Copper Slate is a slate-effect porcelain paving slab. It replicates the warm copper, rust and earthy brown tines of copper slate natural stone. The finish brings genuine warmth and character to the outdoor spaces in a way that cool greys and whites can’t.

For designing a patio, courtyard, or garden path, the palette leans towards timber, brick, terracotta, or naturalistic planting.

Among our outdoor porcelain tiles and 16mm porcelain paving range, these slabs make a welcoming impression on outdoor patios and gardens.

Why Choose Rustic Copper Slate 16mm Porcelain Paving

Warm Stone Finish

The majority of porcelain pavings sit in the grey, anthracite, and white spectrum. Rustic copper slate porcelain occupies space with its warm copper and rustic tones, with surface movement of natural slate. It works well in naturalistic gardens alongside red bricks, sandstone walling, weathered timber and ornamental grasses.

R11 Anti-Slip Paving

Slip resistance is built into the texture of the porcelain and consistent throughout the porcelain’s body. R11 slip resistance means excellent foot grip in exposed outdoor paving, even in wet UK weather conditions.

Weather Resistance

With porosity below 0.5%, porcelain does not absorb water. It means no cracking, spalling, or surface breakdown through freeze-thaw cycles, which is a particular weakness of natural slate paving. They delaminate and lift when water gets into the grain and freezes.

Fade Resistance

UV exposure and traffic do not affect its surface. It is especially ideal for south-facing installations that take long periods of direct sun.

Ease of Maintenance

With porcelain, there is no sealing ritual, no specialist cleaning products and no annual treatment. The non-porous surface gives no space for algae and moss to hold. Regular sweep and occasional pressure wash are enough to keep these slabs looking as they should.

Slim Profile and Full of Character

16mm porcelain paving slabs are lighter than 20mm equivalents. It means they are more practical on restricted-access sites and roof terraces that have load limits. These large-format paving in 900 x 600mm and textured surface look consistent and hard to miss in outdoor patios.

Best Applications for 16mm Rustic Copper Slate Porcelain Paving

  • Patios and Garden Terraces:

The warm copper tones suit cottage gardens, walled gardens, and outdoor spaces where the design intent is naturalistic rather than industrial.

  • Roof Terraces and Balconies:

The reduced weight of 16mm is meaningful across larger areas where structural load limits apply.

  • Pedestal and Raised Deck Systems:

The 16mm profile sits cleanly within adjustable pedestal frameworks, allowing level installation over sloped or uneven substrates without full excavation.

  • Garden Paths and Pathways:

The textured slate-effect surface and earthy tones suit informal garden paths, particularly where the path runs through planting or alongside naturalistic landscaping rather than through a purely hard-landscaped space.

  • Pool Surrounds:

The R11 slip rating and water-resistant surface make these slabs a practical choice for poolside areas.

  • Overlay Installations:

Where laying over an existing sound surface is preferable to a full excavation, the slimmer 16mm slab keeps the finished level and transition heights manageable.

Considerations Before You Buy

  • Install 16mm porcelain slabs on a pedestal/raised system or a fully bonded mortar bed. They are not suitable for loose-lay or gravel-bed installation.
  • Use flexible tile adhesive and exterior grout when bonding directly to a sub-base. Standard sand and cement do not provide a reliable bond for porcelain and risk slab movement over time.
  • For roof terraces and balconies, confirm structural load capacity with your builder or structural engineer before ordering.
  • The rustic copper finish has intentional tonal variation between slabs. This replicates the character of natural slate and is a feature of the product, not a defect.
  • Order a £0.99 sample to see the colour and texture in your own space before committing to a full pack.

The honest bit

What to know before you order

Batches vary slightly

Porcelain is printed and fired, so it's far more consistent than natural stone — but shade can still shift a touch between production batches. Order your full quantity in one go where you can.

Dry-lay before you fix

Lay slabs out loose from mixed packs and stand back before anything is stuck down. Once it's fixed, it's yours — ten minutes of dry-laying is the cheapest insurance there is.

Wet looks different to dry

Every slab reads darker and richer when wet — and this is Britain, so it will be wet. Check your sample both ways before you commit.

Delivery is kerbside

Your order arrives palletised on a tail-lift lorry, placed on the nearest safe hard-standing. The driver won't carry slabs through the house — have a barrow and a second pair of hands ready.

Questions

Porcelain — the essentials

How is Porcelain delivered?

Standard delivery is free to mainland UK addresses with no minimum spend and arrives within 3–5 working days. Your order comes palletised on an 18-tonne tail-lift lorry and is delivered kerbside — the driver moves the pallet to the nearest safe hard-standing but won't carry slabs through the property, so have help on hand to move it. Need a set day? Choose nominated-day delivery (£39.00) or Saturday delivery (£69.00) at checkout.

Can I see it before I order a full pack?

Yes — order a £0.98 sample and it's posted next working day, so you can see and feel the exact surface in your own garden light before committing to a full order.

What happens if slabs arrive broken?

Every pallet is covered by our breakage guarantee. Photograph the damaged slabs as delivered and send the photos with your order number within 48 hours of delivery — we'll send free replacements or credit the affected pieces, with nothing for you to send back.

How much does one slab or pack cover?

Each 900×600mm slab covers 0.54 m², and a full pack of 52 slabs covers 28.08 m². Enter your area into the coverage calculator above and it rounds up to whole slabs and packs, with a 10% allowance for cuts and waste built in.

Is it slippery when wet?

This range is rated R11 — a slip-resistance class from the DIN 51130 ramp test, where the scale runs R9 (least grip) to R13 (most) and R11 is the common specification for UK patios and pool surrounds. The grip comes from a textured finish fired into the slab's surface, not a coating that can wear off.

Will every slab match the photos exactly?

Porcelain is printed and fired, so colour and pattern are far more consistent than natural stone — but slight shade variation between production batches is normal. Order your full quantity in one go where you can, work from mixed packs, and dry-lay a few slabs before fixing. Colours also read slightly darker when wet.
