What is "Kandla Grey"?
Kandla Grey is a naturally-occurring grey sandstone quarried in the Kandla region of India, and it has also become one of the most popular colourways for porcelain paving — manufacturers replicate the tonal grey-with-subtle-variation look of the natural stone in a manufactured slab. Porcelain vs natural sandstone Kandla Grey
- Kandla Grey Porcelain — manufactured, consistent colour and thickness batch-to-batch, low porosity (minimal staining, no sealing needed), supplied in a slimmer 20mm outdoor-rated calibrated thickness. Good for a crisp, contemporary, low-maintenance finish.
- Kandla Grey Sandstone — natural stone, so expect genuine tonal variation between slabs (this is normal and part of the appeal). Supplied in a choice of finishes — natural riven, sandblast, tumbled and honed & sawn, the calibrated packs at 22mm thickness. Good for a more textured, traditional look.

Choosing a pack size
Packs are sold by coverage (m²) rather than "per slab", because slab dimensions and slabs-per-pack vary by finish. Use the coverage calculator with your patio or driveway dimensions — it rounds up to whole packs and adds a cutting-and-breakage allowance automatically.

Laying it
